2nd Gen G35 to G37
I love my G37, but I have a question to those who made a similar move as me.
I had my 08 G35 for 40,000 miles and looking back I can't think of a single issue I had with that car other than the lousy rotors that caused vibrations after hitting the brakes a couple of times during spirited driving.
The 2010 G37 however:
-Paint, its just plain awful. Worst paint job I have ever seen
- Crackling sound on speakers but this went away on its own
- Very noisy at start up in winter, G35 was also not a quite car but this one sounds more truckish at start up.
- Seat bubble on drivers seat
- Well the rotors are still a problem (had them fixed under warranty though)
- Nav is a bit slower to respond to inputs especially after start up
- There is some vibration coming from the front, maybe due to allignment or maybe something wrong with the front suspension, getting it checked tomorrow.
After 40,000 miles with the G35 and 26,000 miles with the G37, I am inclined to believe Nissan did a far better job with the G35 than the G37 in terms of built quality.
What are your thoughts?

nvr had Nissan motor prior to G37.
G37 drives like a dream except harsh 7AT transmission when breaking and even when WOT. the transmission flies everywhere.
paint job? horrible. i have more than 20 visible rock chips after 6months of ownership.
Other than the above, I can't really complain.

paint is the only issues I can come up with. I luckily have had no issues with my 7at. Seems like you have a few isolated issues, the nav being slower should not be happening. Right after start up there will be a slight delay as the vehicle is pairing your phone up, but other then that should work just fine.

Right after start up there will be a slight delay as the vehicle is pairing your phone up, but other then that should work just fine.

I had a 2007 Sedan and now have a 2010 Coupe. Overall build I think they are on par. I love these cars. Paint definitely sucks on the 2010 though. I wash my car, its shiny and mirrored all throughout, then the bumper looks like the face of a 13 year old going through severe acne problems.
My biggest complaint is the voice tags. I had the version where you could control everything with your voice(inside temp, go directly to radio stations, etc), it responded fast, and was quick to get through the menus. I rarely even use voice control on this car because its such a pain and extremely slow. I think they changed this even on the 08s, so my 07 was the last model with the "good" voice commands. Not sure why they would ever make these more restrictive and difficult?

Most likely due to cost cut backs, I ask my US representative why we do not incorporate more into the voice commands like sync, and it all comes down to price. I will say though once you are familiarized with the voice controls they do work well when you do the shortcut menu.

I always get a 2010 G37 sedan as a loaner when I drop my 08 G35 sedan. I hate it! Not just because of the upgrades on my car and what Im used to, but because of some of the reasons you mention. the engine is loud and the gears drag. The 7spd auto is no good in my opinion. The brakes do seem better and more responsive on the G37. That being said, my number one issue with my G35 has been brakes as well. Warping, shaking, squealing, softness are just some of the problems I have had. Most replaced under warranty. I still continue to have brake issues to this day. Overall, Im glad I did not wait for the 09 model year.

I had my 07x 4 years. I had the brake problem and front grille chipping issue. Infiniti replaced the front rotors, pads and installed the front splash shields and I never had issue with brakes after that. They also replaced my front grille.
My new Infiniti/Akebono brakes are great. Hopefully I don't have rotor issues later on.
The 3.7 engine sounds a little louder cold than the 3.5 but perhaps it should. I can't hear any difference once she's warmed up and driving.
My Nav is quick to set, find routes and re-route. Quicker than our Nuvi although sometimes not as accurate. Have you seen that there is a Navigation TSB which includes speed issues? ITB10-066b
I find my interior is equal to my 07 and I had absolutely no issues with the dash or seats. The 07 had the peeling door bezels but Infiniti was actually about to replace those for me as well until I said not to worry because I'm buying new in a week.
Both of mine have been OB. This time I got a full front end wrap in VentureShield plus the mirrors and rear trunk ledge. Not much else you can do to prevent chips if you're going to drive it. Other than the front bumper and a few chips on the hood, my 07 looked as good as my new G37. If we honestly follow proper washing techniques (always) then our paint isn't really hard to maintain.

I owned a 2004 G35 coupe before I purchased my current G37 coupe. To the degree that some of the problems I had with the G35 are valid for the sedan also, I was pleased to learn that my chief complaints about the G35 were resolved in the G37. They included:
• The G35 oil dip stick was poorly located and virtually impossible to use.
• The hood had no hydraulic struts and had to be propped open the old fashion way with a rod.
• The brakes caused so much dust that the rims had to be washed twice a week. Brake wear was so bad that Infiniti granted free replacement of both rotors and pads for two years.
• The navigation system was primitive compared to the G37.
• The G35 was noisy with a rougher ride as compared to my G37.
• The 6 CD changer was no match to my 9.2 GB hard drive music box.
• Other features, like OEM satellite radio were just not available in 2004.
